Dr Denise Tong is a Consultant Rheumatologist in the St George & Sutherland Shire with a wealth of experience and expertise. She treats all forms of arthritis and specialises in the use of biologic therapy.

Dr Tong has extensive expertise in identifying and managing a wide range of inflammatory and autoimmune disorders, including Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Ankylosing Spondylitis, Lupus, Connective Tissue Disease, Vasculitis, Scleroderma, Gout and Polymyalgia Rheumatica.
Dr Tong offer diagnostics and management of chronic pain affecting the shoulder, elbow, knee, neck and back.
Dr Tong has extensive experience in managing Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Syndrome in a holistic manner.
Dr Tong believes in providing whole person care. Medical advances have provided excellent therapy in managing arthritis and chronic pain. Lifestyle choices and complementary medicines also contribute to your management success.
A Rheumatologist is a specialist physician who has expertise in diagnosing and treating conditions of musculoskeletal disease and systemic autoimmune conditions commonly referred to as rheumatic diseases. These diseases can affect the joints, muscles, and bones causing pain, swelling, stiffness, and deformity. Rheumatologists in Australia undertake at least six years of specialist training after completing a medical degree. This includes physician training and specialist training in rheumatology.
Dr Tong graduated with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales. She is a member of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and the Australian Rheumatology Association. She has published in prominent medical journals and continues to pursue excellence in new research of treatments through attending conferences regularly. Dr Tong is an accredited Workcover and Comcare Independent Medical Assessor.

Dr Tong offers telemedicine to support rural patients, and vulnerable patients during COVID-19. Please ask if you are eligible.
COVID-19 is affecting all aspects of life. It is essential to keep your immune system healthy by ensuring your autoimmune condition/arthritis is under good control. Taking your prescribed medicines will help regulate your immune system.
Dr Tong is able to communicate fluently in English, Mandarin and Cantonese.
